about

This is a kind of rockabilly mash up with ELO. I had just bought a new Jim Dunlop wah pedal and it was going to get used to death, particularly on this song. Looking back the lyrics seem a bit too nihilistic and nasty. I think I was singing about myself rather than anyone (girl) in particular. I didn’t really dig myself in 1993. When we did this live I used to play the guitar solo with the guitar behind my head-like Jimi Hendrix. It was more Jimmy Henderson. The audiences loved me doing that. It got to the stage that there would be complaints if I didn’t play the solo behind my head. I had to really carefully place my fingers on the strings before lifting the guitar up. When I didn’t (in some dark venue) it was out of tune chaos but it always raised a laugh with the rest of the band.
